Harry Potter Reboot to Feature Brand-New Score by Hans Zimmer

The upcoming Harry Potter reboot won’t just look different — it will sound different too. HBO has tapped an Oscar-winning composer to craft an entirely original score for the new series, promising a fresh musical identity for the beloved wizarding world. While John Williams’ iconic themes defined the first three films — including the unforgettable “Hedwig’s Theme” — the television adaptation is charting a new course. This time, the magic will be reimagined through the music of Hans Zimmer and his production company, Bleeding Fingers.

Music has always been central to Harry Potter’s lasting appeal, instantly evoking nostalgia for fans who grew up watching the story transition from page to screen. Few composers are better suited to reinvent that sound for a modern audience than Zimmer, whose résumé spans more than 500 projects across film, television, and beyond. In a statement, Zimmer and his collaborators emphasized their commitment to respecting the franchise’s musical heritage while creating something new:

“The musical legacy of Harry Potter is a touchstone for composers everywhere, and we are honored to be part of such an extraordinary project. This responsibility is one that Kara Talve, Anže Rozman, and I take very seriously. Magic is all around us, often just beyond reach — but, as in the world of Harry Potter, you simply have to look for it. With this score, we hope to bring audiences a little closer to that magic while honoring what has come before

I always remember when I went to see the first movie in the cinema with my family, it was the music that caught me, and even now, to this day, I still love the music from the movies.

As much as I do love the music from the movies, I am excited to see what Hans Zimmer comes up with in terms of themes.
