Spider-Man: Brand New Day could have been a very different movie.

Before Marvel settled on the story we eventually got, several unusual villain ideas were considered — including Kraven the Hunter, Chameleon and the Shadow King.

Kraven Wanted Spider-Man

One of the more interesting ideas would have seen Kraven the Hunter turning New York into a giant hunting ground, with Spider-Man forced to survive a city full of traps.

It’s a concept that sounds tailor-made for a Spider-Man movie, but the idea was eventually dropped.

Peter Parker’s Villain Roommates

Things got even stranger with another version of the story.

Peter could have ended up sharing an apartment with Boomerang and Overkill, without initially realising that his new roommates were criminals.

It sounds ridiculous — but also exactly like the kind of chaotic situation Peter Parker would somehow find himself in.

The Shadow King Was Considered Too

The writers also explored Chameleon, with the character potentially using psychic abilities rather than simply disguising himself.

That eventually led to discussions about Shadow King, a powerful psychic Marvel character associated with the X-Men.

The idea was ultimately abandoned, and the story developed in a different direction.

Eventually, Jean Grey became part of the movie’s psychic storyline.

So while Brand New Day may have its final lineup now, Peter Parker could have been dealing with a very different set of problems.

Kraven hunting him through New York? Villain roommates? Shadow King?

Honestly, we’d watch all three.

Which idea would you have liked to see?
