After nearly three decades, South Park has given its famous opening sequence a very noticeable makeover.
Season 29 kicked off with the show temporarily rebranding itself as South America, with the familiar Primus theme getting new lyrics to match. The updated intro also includes refreshed visuals and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance from a cartoon Donald Trump.
It’s another example of South Park using its opening credits as part of the joke rather than simply sticking with the familiar formula.
The rest of the premiere, titled South American Biker Gangs, focuses on an e-bike conflict involving the residents of the newly renamed town.
Love it or hate it, after 29 seasons, changing one of television’s most recognisable openings is certainly one way to announce that South Park is back.

Finally, it’s about time they fixed the crap they did with South Park Season 28 because it was a very short and controversial season. It’s good this one now have moved away from the heavy political focus toward a more traditional South Park-style story involving e-bikes and biker gangs.
Have to admit, I thought the original opening was going to be with us forever, so it is refreshing to see a new opening for season 29, even if they have only changed one word from park to America.
I just couldn’t miss the cartoon Donald Trump, that did give me a chuckle!
The important thing is that there’s a new season, and as someone living in South America, I find it really funny that they’re calling it “South America” now—lol, South Park never disappoints.
